Scan - QR Code and Barcode Reader App Reviews

49 Customer Reviews:

This works fine on my MacBook Pro (early 2011) running Yosemite. Very easy to use. Just launch, hold a code up to the camera, and you have the appropriate web page pop up. You do have to get the code close enough to be large enough to take up most of the space within the guide marks. Also, should avoid glare off the code. All common sense.

I bought this app thinking I would be able to sign in and view the scan locations from my other devices - that is what it says in the description. This app does not allow me to do what the description says.

Ummm, not!

Too bad this product doesn’t actually read bar codes… enjoy my money.

The app is good. It scans codes OK. I think the problem that other people are having are due to the Macbook camera not focusing at macro distance. I had to move back and forth a few times to get a code on a screen scanned. The dev’s should put a little tip somewhere in the app suggesting the correct way to make the scan on the MacBook.

Pointless

The app does not allow copying of code and not read EAN 39. Pointless.

First time user of codes, added QR Code City to a new poster I’ve developed. QR Code City 1.0.1 was simple, flawless and fast. Went to web site created a code and downloads of a package of code was in my download box in seconds. I am impressed.

For whatever reason, it’s totally impossible to actually select/copy the text that is scanned from a code, which only makes this program useful if you want to open URLs, or are only interested in seeing what a QR code contains without using that data elsewhere.

CANNOT COPY QR DATA ONTO CLIPBOARD

You can either have an application open it or just see it. There’s no option or ability to copy the text onto the clipboard.

Can you add the option of copying the QR text output to the clipboard? I’m scanning some QR codes that aren’t URL’s and it’d be nice to copy that to the clipboard.

I bought this app for my 13” MacBook Pro, and was incredibly disappointed. I purchased this item to try scanning some QR codes off of bands’ flyers. It didn’t “scan” anything. It didn’t scan any QR codes I came across, and it didn’t scan any regular barcodes either. It’s incredibly hard to perfectly align the barcodes and QR codes into the designated area, especially because the camera has a mirrored effect. (I could not find anyway to change this, either.) This “scanner” is a complete waste of money as it doesn’t scan anything you put in front of it.

Does not work.

Tried different sized QR codes from various sources and it couldn’t scan any. Totally worthless app.

Please refund my apple account. After trying 30 times to scan a simple barcode I had no success. You guys have to fix these issues so people can actually use this app on the imac.

Someone gave me a brochure with a QR code. I held the brochure up to the camera on my MacBook Pro and, BOOM!, the website from the QR showed up in Safari faster than I could write this simple review. I dont know why other people had problems with it but worked perfectly for me the very first time. This was a relatively small QR code and I just basically flashed it by the camera and this app did the rest. Money well spent and time saved.

I’m not really sure why others are having problems, but this has been one of the best scanners I’ve used. I am always using it and have not had any problems. It’s super fast and easy to use. I love it! I have this on my iPad and it had great reviews there and I was a bit shocked to see the poor reviews on here, but thought I would give it a try anyways and glad I did.
